Roger Knick

Founder

Roger Knick is the Founder/President of The Golf Performance Center, Inc., and the Founder of the Junior Golf Hub, LLC.

A sports performance specialist and entrepreneur, Roger has spent over 20 years developing and refining his knowledge and practical application of coaching. He has been able to apply the Functional Movement Screen System to his Professional Golfers Association of America classification, his Titleist Performance Institute, K-Motion Biomechanics, and Paul Chek Biomechanics for Golf certifications, and his educational background of exercise science from Elon University to all his pupils, including aspiring high school and collegiate athletes, as well as PGA, LPGA, NHL, MLB, NBA and NFL players. Roger’s ability to coach at many different levels is due to his diverse background in sports, along with his understanding and philosophy that “Function Dictates Form.” Having been a Division-1 athlete as well as a professional athlete, Roger has an intimate understanding of his students’ dreams and goals, and how to coach them for success.

Roger lectures in the field of sports performance development for competitive and aspiring junior athletes to active competitive adults. He has served as a consultant to many players and universities for golf, basketball, hockey, and baseball performance enhancement. Roger has written many topical articles and is in the process of writing his first books with the working titles of The Best Golfer Ever Built and Bird’s Eye View of the Recruiting Process for the Junior Golf Student/Athlete.

Gordon M. Marchand

Mr. Marchand retired in 2023 as co-founder and managing partner with Sustainable Growth Advisers, LP (“SGA”), a Stamford, Connecticut based investment management firm with $27 billion in institutional client assets under management. Gordon served as a portfolio manager to the firm’s institutional clientele and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.

From 1984 to 2003 he was Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Director at New York City based investment firm Yeager, Wood & Marshall where he was also a member of that firm’s Investment Policy Committee. Prior to 1984 he was a manager with the Consulting Group of Price Waterhouse. Earlier he had been a CPA with Grant Thornton International.

Board of Directors and Trustee Service

Gordon was past President and Chairman of the Investment Advisers Association (“IAA”). In addition to serving as President and Chairman, Mr. Marchand also served eleven years on the IAA’s Board of Governors, six years on its Executive Committee and two years on its Audit Committee. The IAA represents the interests of the investment management industry before the US Congress and related regulators. From 1997 to 2018, Gordon was an independent Director of Chase Investment Counsel Corporation, a SEC‑registered investment advisory firm based in Charlottesville, Virginia. From 2009 to 2020, Gordon served as an independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee for privately owned Zounds Hearing LLC, an innovative manufacturer and retailer of hearing aids. From 2020 to the present Gordon is serving as a Trustee of the Chase Foundation, a charitable organization based in Charlottesville, VA that has a mission to support libertarian causes.

Education and Professional Designations

Gordon earned a BS from Georgetown University, an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and completed graduate study in international business at Oxford University (Oxford, England). Gordon has held certifications as a CFA, a Chartered Investment Counselor and a CPA.

Gordon resides with his wife, Marybeth, and rescue dog, Bodhi, at residences in Vero Beach, FL and Jamestown, RI.

Jon R. Stockel

Jon Stockel retired as the Chief Financial Officer of BWP Distributors Inc. After graduating from Babson College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. Jon joined his family’s business in auto parts distribution, CARQUEST Auto Parts, where he started as a warehouse manager, moved on to Corporate Controller, and eventually led the Finance and Accounting responsibilities of the organization. In 2012, the Stockel family sold the business, ending Jon’s 40-plus years career in auto parts.

Jon currently manages the family’s real estate assets and investment holdings, along with various charitable activities, including serving as a Board Member of Ridgefield A Better Chance. Jon lives in Ridgefield, CT, with his wife, two children, and dog, Charlie. An avid golfer, Jon belongs to Anglebrook Golf Club, Emerald Dunes Club, Hudson National Golf Club, The Outpost Club, and plays on the Golf Channel Amateur Tour.

Michael C. Salvator

Michael Salvator is the Chief Operating Officer of Stone Canyon Industries, LLC, a global industrial holding company headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. With consolidated revenues of over $3 billion generated from several core industry verticals, companies within the SCI family operate in over 160 locations throughout 18 countries with over 10,000 employees dedicated to providing products and services of unmatched quality and reliability to thousands of customers around the world.Prior to Stone Canyon, Michael was a Senior MD and CFO at the private equity firm, J.H. Whitney & Co., where he was responsible for the oversight of the firm’s accounting, compliance, finance, and investor relation functions. Additionally, Michael was a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and served on the Board of Directors of several companies within the business services, consumer products, and specialty manufacturing industries. He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, B.S. and a non-active CPA. Michael previously served as a Board Member of the City of Norwalk Pension plan, and also helped launch Pledgeling, a charity donation platform.

Ernest J. Newborn, II

Ernest Newborn is a senior insurance brokerage executive with over 30 years of experience assisting publicly and privately held insurance brokerage and consulting companies acquire, integrate, and grow their businesses. Ernest’s career reflects a demonstrated record of executive leadership overseeing the financing and M&A transactional work associated with the tremendous growth of these two national firms. Ernest brings deep corporate governance experience not only through his work as the chief governance officer of these two firms, but also through his twenty plus years’ experience as a director of Strada Education Foundation, including two terms as Chairman of the Board from 2009 to 2013 and again from January 2025 to present. Strada is a social impact foundation dedicated to strengthening the link between education and opportunity.

Currently, Ernest is Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of USI Insurance Services LLC, one of the largest insurance brokerage and consulting firm in the world, with over $2.7B in revenue and over 10,000 employees across 200+ offices nationwide. Ernest played a key role in building USI’s national distribution system through the acquisition and integration of over 400 insurance brokers and related businesses. Ernest helped USI grow from $200m of revenue to the $2.7B it produces today. Ernest served as general counsel of USI when it went public in 2002 and when it went private in 2007. Since 2007, USI has been a portfolio company for three different private equity owners, Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, Onex Corporation, and KKR. Ernest successfully managed the company through the multi-year state Attorney Generals’ investigations into pay practices within the insurance brokerage sector.

Ernest started his corporate career at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, a multibillion-dollar health insurance and management company, where he quickly assumed increasing responsibility. He was named vice president, general counsel, and secretary of Acordia Inc, the company’s publicly owned subsidiary before he reached the age of 40.

Mr. Newborn also serves as a member of the board of directors of the USA Junior Golf Federation and formerly served as a member of the Jackie Robinson Foundation.

Ernest received his bachelor’s degree from Drake University and his law degree from the University of Michigan.
